Part 4: Funny Street Adventure (Tom’s First Day in America)

After dinner, Tom goes for a walk.
The city is big. The lights are bright.
Tom is happy.

Suddenly, he sees a dog.
The dog looks at Tom.
Tom waves. “Hello, dog!”

The dog wags its tail.
The dog follows Tom.
“Oh no,” says Tom. “Go home, dog!”

Tom walks fast. The dog walks fast.
Tom walks slow. The dog walks slow.
Tom runs. The dog runs.
“Oh dear,” says Tom. “The dog likes me!”

People on the street see Tom and the dog.
“Nice dog!” says a woman.
“Cute dog!” says a man.
Tom shakes his head. “Not my dog!”

The dog jumps up. The dog licks Tom’s face.
“Ahh!” says Tom. He laughs.
“Okay, okay. Maybe you are my dog today.”

Tom sits on a bench.
The dog sits too.
Tom shares his mango with the dog.
The dog eats happily.
Tom smiles. “America is funny,” he says again.
